Music has held an interest for me for as long as I can remember, both from a creative and technical perspective. My background is electronic engineering which led to the formation of my business, Anything Electronic (NZ) Ltd in late '89.

My interest in studio engineering was piqued while recording some demo tunes in my late teens in Christchurch. It wasn't until computers became capable of decent audio processing in the mid 90's that I seriously started investing in digital audio.

My musicial experience ranges from playing keyboards and bass in youth bands, to writing, arranging and recording music for congregational singing. I currently play bass and sing with the Jazz band, Freewheelin' and play in the worship team at St. Barnabas.

I'm pictured here with my lovely wife, Karen. She reminds me that I have other responsibilities aside music and is always available with a fresh pair of ears and honest second opinion.

Mercy Mercy
To find genuine love and acceptance from others, in spite of my failings is a tremendously freeing experience. 'Mercy Mercy' came out of a deep longing for this on a spiritual level, coinciding with a time a family member was needing the same from me.

Autumn Leaves
Music by Joseph Kosma and lyrics by poet Jacques Prévert - 1945.
Hearing this tune so often played as an upbeat swing or bossa, I decided to try my own hand at arranging it, seeking to underscore its sense of sadness and loss. In my opinion though, no one does it as good as Eva Cassidy, Songbird album.

Rusty Fusion Blues
'
Rusty Fusion Blues' is dedicated to our friends Russ & Gayna Paris who moved to Tauranga at the beginning of 2008. Russ was worship director at St. Barnabas, Stoke and recorded the guitar parts while jamming around in the studio one day. A few months later I was fooling around with the tracks, added piano, bass, drums and Clare recorded viola.
